Suzy Lamplugh left her office in July 1986 to show a flat to a client in Fulham, but was never seen again.
One report suggested her body may have been dumped in a canal.
But now the Metropolitan Police is set to move the inquiry to an “inactive phase” in 12 months’ time, meaning that while new information will be followed up, the team will no longer actively work on the case.
Retired detective Jim Dickie who led the case, says they should look again.
The Met insists it has been searched.
