Becca joined St Raphael’s in 2020 as Clinical Director before being appointed Chief Executive.

Throughout her time at the hospice, the charity says she has remained committed to ensuring people approaching the end of life, and those close to them, receive the highest standard of specialist care, St Raphael’s says; “combining clinical expertise with values-led leadership, she has guided the charity through a period of significant change and development.

“During her tenure at St Raphael’s, she has strengthened services, developed core partnerships across the health and care system, championed specialist palliative and end of life care, and shaped the hospice’s strategic direction to ensure it continues to respond to the needs of the communities it serves.

“Becca has also been a leading voice in highlighting the challenges facing hospice care nationally. Working closely with Hospice UK and sector partners, she has campaigned for fairer, more sustainable funding to help secure the future of hospice services. Under her leadership, St Raphael’s has continued to provide expert, compassionate care to around 1,000 people each year.”

Reflecting on her decision to retire, Becca said:

“It has been an immense privilege to serve St Raphael’s and the communities we support. I have been inspired every day by the compassion, professionalism and commitment of our staff and volunteers, and by the generosity of our supporters.

“I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together – strengthening our services, deepening our partnerships, and continuing to provide expert care for those who need it most.

“After much thought and reflection, I know the time is right for me to focus on personal commitments, particularly my family. I make this decision with enormous confidence in the organisation, its people and its future, and I trust the hospice will continue to make a lasting difference to our community for many years to come.”

Chair of Trustees, Norman McWhinney, said:

“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I would like to thank Becca for her outstanding leadership and dedication to St Raphael’s. Her commitment to patients, families, colleagues and the wider hospice movement has been exceptional.

“She has led with integrity, compassion and determination, helping St Raphael’s grow while staying true to its mission and values. Thanks to her leadership, she leaves the hospice in a strong position, with a clear purpose, a committed team, and a solid foundation for the future.

“While we are naturally saddened by Becca’s retirement, we fully respect her decision and are deeply grateful for her lasting contribution to the hospice and the communities we serve.”

The Board of Trustees will begin the recruitment process immediately for the hospice’s next Chief Executive.

Becca will remain in post until the end of December, working closely with the Board and colleagues to ensure a smooth and effective leadership transition.
