Kew Gardens has handed UN Secretary-General António Guterres its most prized award.
The Kew International Medal is an accolade given to individuals who have made a significant contribution to science and conservation.
The award was first established in 1992 by the Board of Trustees of the Royal Botanic Gardens.
Guterres’ positioning of climate change and biodiversity loss on the international stage were the reasons he was chosen for the honour.
