31-year-old French national Kevin Kerjean is also charged with the rape and sexual assault of a girl under the age of 13.
The toddler was found dead by police at a property in Pyrcroft Road on Thursday evening.
Kerjean appeared via video-link from HMP Wandsworth and has been remanded in custody until the next hearing in September.
The Home Office has confirmed Kerjean legally entered the UK and applied for European Union Settled Status in December 2020.
He was granted leave to remain in March 2021 and received an extension which gave him permission to remain until March 2031.
