South East Coast Ambulance Service has identified the town as a key recruitment area.

The volunteers are trained to attend some 999 emergencies and can often reach patients before an ambulance crew arrives.

SECAmb says its responders attended 17,000 incidents last year and play a vital role in helping patients during emergencies.

Successful applicants receive full training, with applications open until the 15th of June.
