Plumber, Simon, didn’t realise he was having a heart attack last August having ignored his back pain for more than a week.
However, it was after the pain in the middle of his back intensified that he went to Epsom Hospital.
Staff realised Simon was experiencing a blockage in the heart’s biggest artery, sometimes described as a ‘widowmaker’ heart attack.
Immediate treatment is crucial for a chance of survival.
Paramedics from South East Coast ambulance service then transferred him for a life-saving operation at St George’s Hospital.
52 year old Simon was fitted with a stent to open up the artery and underwent Cardiac Rehab back at Epsom Hospital.
