Croydon Council has increased spend allocated to special education facilities by more than 700% since 2023.

The details have been revealed via a Freedom of Information request submitted by Portakabin.

It found Croydon’s SEND capital budget increased from £356,000 in 2022 and 2023 to £3 million in 2024 and last year.

The wider FOI findings also suggest SEND pupil numbers are increasing across nine of the ten largest UK boroughs.
