The 33-year-old was taken to hospital after the attack on Acre Lane on the 2nd of May, and police are now trying to trace those responsible.

A black BMW 330E estate was seen arriving around 2am and fleeing towards Clapham Park Road shortly afterwards.

Anyone with dashcam or doorbell footage from Clapham Park Road, Kings Avenue and nearby streets is urged to contact police on 101.

Detective Sergeant Daniel Beek, who is leading the investigation, said: “This brutal attack almost claimed the life of a young man. My team and I are determined to find those responsible and urge anyone with information to contact us.

“The incident took place in an incredibly busy area. There were cars on the road – which hopefully means relevant dashcam footage – and we believe residents may have doorbell cameras pointing towards the street.

“If you were in or live in Acre Lane, Clapham Park Road, or the surrounding areas of Kings Avenue, please do get in touch via 101, or share footage directly through our public portal. No piece of information is too small.”
