The Civil Aviation Authority recorded the average flight taking off 19 minutes and 30 seconds late.

Birmingham, Bournemouth, Southampton and Gatwick complete the top five.

Heathrow came in at number 16 on the list of 23 with an average wait of 12 minutes and 42 seconds.

Passengers at Liverpool typically experienced the shortest waits, around half as long as at Manchester.
