Drones disrupted a record number of air ambulance call outs last year.

In total, nine flights were disrupted, including to incidents in Croydon and Durham, which were considered life saving missions.

The UK’s 21 air ambulance charities carry out an average of 134 missions every day.

But pilots have no onboard systems to detect nearby drones, which they say makes these encounters particularly dangerous.

Up to one million drones are in use across the UK.
