Around 60 firefighters responded to the incident in Roe Way just before 4pm. The fire was brought under control just after 7:30pm.
One of the Brigade’s 32metre ladders was also deployed to the scene.
Station Commander Ian Simpson, who was at the scene, said: “Traffic in the surrounding area was severely impacted,” and “motorists were advised to avoid the area”.
One cat named Tiger was rescued and brought to safety.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
