Colchester owner and chairman Robbie Cowling has confirmed they are in “detailed discussions” with a consortium over a proposed sale.

Reports suggest a group led by former England and Chelsea captain John Terry are in talks to complete a takeover of the League Two club.

Cowling put United back on the market in September following interest from American-based Lightwell Sports Group last June.
