Police have confirmed that a 16 year old boy has been taken to hospital following a stabbing in Kingston yesterday evening.

Images and video footage began circulating on social media following the incident, which also saw the police helicopter deployed.

However, reports that cited a 16 year old boy had died are false.

The Met Police has issued this statement in the last few minutes.

“At around 5.42pm on Sunday, officers were called to reports of an assault on Old London Road.

“Officers attended the scene and located a 16-year-old boy with stab wounds. He was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service where his injuries have been assessed as neither life-threatening nor life-changing.

“No arrests in connection to the stabbing have been made at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.

“A section 60 order was authorised following the incident, providing officers with additional stop and search powers to prevent further violence and disorder. As a result, three were arrested on suspicion of possession of offensive weapons and drugs.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting CAD 5285/12APR or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said:

“We were called at 5.40pm on 12 April to reports of a stabbing on Wheatfield Way, Kingston Upon Thames.

“We sent resources including an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic, a paramedic from our tactical response unit, an incident response officer and a clinical team manager.

“We treated a teenager at the scene and took them to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
