A restaurant in Hounslow and a takeaway in Tolworth are two of 140 businesses fined for deliberately defaulting on tax.

They have been named by HMRC which says the amount owed by each exceeds £25,000.

Moidal Hussein, a restaurant who lives in Whitton, owed £850,000 in tax and has been fined £590,000.

Lin Chen, formerly trading as ‘So’s Kitchen in Tolworth, owed more than £270,00 in tax and has been fined £129,000.

HMRC says it is actively tackling tax non-compliance among high street businesses across the UK.
