The University of Surrey in Guildford is now the world’s leading university for nuclear isomers discovery.

Isomers are unusual forms of atoms that help with medical scans and show how the universe is made.

Three of Surrey’s physicists have also been ranked in the global top ten which looked at the work of more than 1,000 researchers.

The rankings come from a new international database published in Nuclear Physics News International.
