Croydon Council says it wants to reduce the amount of financial support it receives from the Government by £34 million next year.

It was announced in December that the council would receive £40 million each year for the next three years.

The authority says the reduction is because it’s on track to deliver more than £48 million in savings this year.

Government advisors were brought in to oversee finances after the authority declared effective bankruptcy three times in 2020 and 2022.
