The fire occurred in a first-floor flat on Brooks Road and also partially damaged a communal corridor.
The woman was rescued from the flat by firefighters and taken to hospital by ambulance, but she died yesterday.
Four other people from neighbouring flats were provided with fire escape hoods and treated in hospital for smoke inhalation.
