Weather warnings for snow have been upgraded to amber in northern Scotland, from midday tomorrow.

Less severe yellow ones for both snow and ice cover parts of the same area, plus Northern Ireland, most of Wales, and huge chunks of England, including London and Surrey.

Cold weather alerts are also in effect because of the freezing temperatures.
