Officers were called to Old Woking Road at 5:15pm following reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian.
A woman in her 80s was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A 60-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drink and drugs.
