A group of MPs say the UK’s national security will be harmed by plans to boost defence spending by cutting overseas aid.

The Commons International Development Committee warns the cuts could fuel unrest and worsen outcomes for people in need.

The MP for Esher and Walton, Monica Harding, is on the committee, which has also suggested the cuts could damage Britain’s global reputation.

The Foreign Office says it is ensuring spending delivers for British taxpayers and the people it supports.
