Researchers at the University of Surrey are leading UK trials to use drones to deliver defibrillators in 999 emergencies.

They’re working with the air ambulance and ambulance service on a 16-month project funded by a national health research body.

The team will run tests to see how drones could quickly fly defibrillators to people having a cardiac arrest.

Fewer than 1 in 10 people survive a cardiac arrest outside hospital, and getting a defibrillator to them faster could make a big difference.
