Thames Water has unveiled a scheme to automatically cut bills for low-income households in 17 London boroughs.

Around 33,000 families will be enrolled without needing to apply, saving each of them more than £300 a year.

It follows a successful pilot in Wandsworth and Richmond earlier this year.

The company’s under pressure to improve its performance on pollution and leaks while battling huge debts.

The scheme is being rolled out in: Richmond, Camden, Wandsworth, Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Hammersmith & Fulham, Haringey, Enfield, Lambeth, Kensington & Chelsea, Islington, Westminster, Lewisham, Ealing, Brent, Greenwich and Southwark.
