The minor injuries unit at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Roehampton is to stay open following pressure from MPs and patients.

Over 750 people signed a petition in just a couple of weeks after the announcement was made.

The NHS Trust has pledged it will remain open.

It’s also pledged to explore how to reinstate the hospital’s pre-Covid drop-in service to help relieve pressure on St George’s A&E.

Commenting, Paul Kohler MP said:

“This is a fantastic result for our community and a testament to the power of local voices. More than 750 residents signed our petition in just two weeks, showing just how much Queen Mary’s matters to people in Wimbledon and beyond.

I am delighted that the Trust has listened and agreed to keep the unit open. I will continue working with colleagues to ensure the commitment to reinstating the drop-in service if feasible is delivered, and that Queen Mary’s remains at the heart of accessible, high-quality local healthcare.”
