A group of MPs says racism is one of the core drivers of poor outcomes in maternity wards for black women.

The Commons Health Committee says they remain more than twice as likely to die in pregnancy or childbirth.

Among those speaking out is the MP for Chelsea and Fulham, Ben Coleman.

It says it’s unacceptable that training on cultural awareness isn’t mandatory for NHS maternity staff.
