Merton Council is to hold an urgent meeting following the news Wimbledon and Mitcham’s police front-counters are to close.

Mayor of London, Sir Sadiq Khan, outlined the proposal to shut them in his draft Police and Crime Plan for 2025 to 2029.

A public consultation is now being carried out on phase 2 of the New Met for London plan.

Merton’s Mayor has agreed to convene an Extraordinary Meeting of the Council on the 17th of September to address urgent concerns.
