The three-night break to Eastbourne is now fully booked and includes return coach travel, accommodation, insurance and support staff for 21 people who live directly on the Carnival route.
Residents enjoying the seaside break will return to North Kensington on Tuesday once Council street-cleaning teams have restored the area to normal following Carnival, which takes over the bank holiday weekend.
Cllr Kim Taylor Smith, Lead Member for Culture, said:
“Carnival is a wonderful celebration enjoyed by so many people, but we know that the sights, sounds and crowds are not for everyone. This trip offers a bit of calm for some of our older residents who would prefer not to be at the heart of the action.
“It’s just one of the ways we support our residents and support Carnival. This year our hard-working crews will be back out cleaning up on both days. To everyone attending this year’s Carnival – have a safe and enjoyable time.”
Meanwhile, 100 people have been arrested by police who say they’re trying to target those who “pose the greatest risk” to the safety of the Notting Hill Carnival.
Officers carried out what they call “intelligence-led interventions”.
21 people were recalled to prison, with 11 firearms and more than 40 knives seized.
The Metropolitan force says 266 people either have police bail or probation licence conditions not to attend the carnival this weekend.
