A 70 year old man who’s lived on a houseboat in Twickenham for almost 30 years is to “get married” to the River Thames.

Steve Conlon is taking part in Extinction Rebellion’s World Water Wedding campaign to highlight the state of the UK’s waterways.

He will hold a small ceremony on the 22nd of March next year where he will promise to look after his stretch of the Thames.

The campaign was started by activist Meg Avon, who “married” the River Avon in 2023.
