‘Become a Lambeth Tour Guide’ course is taught at Morley College in Waterloo and accredited by Lambeth Tour Guides Association where you can learn about Lambeth past and present, skill up to share engaging and compelling stories and get experience of being a Tour Guide in Lambeth.
In just four years since the Association was formed, Lambeth Guides have developed walks in South London, given talks to societies, published a book about the women of Lambeth and recorded a series of podcasts in collaboration with Morley College Radio.
Applications are now open for the course starting in September.
The course combines Thursday evening study sessions at Morley with training walks across the Borough on selected Saturday mornings.
The curriculum includes Art & Architecture, Parks & Gardens, Housing & Welfare, Sport & Entertainment, Transport and Politics. There are also guest lecturers on specialist areas such as Black History and insights from professional guides. Student visits in past years have included Backstage at the National Theatre, the International Maritime Organisation, Lambeth Palace Library and the Black Cultural Archives.
