Surrey Fire and Rescue service has launched a campaign to swap BBQ’s for picnics as part of its wildfire prevention campaign.

In June, firefighters responded to around 120 outdoor fires across Surrey which was a 200% increase on last year.

The wider campaign running all summer highlights wildfire risks in open spaces and how simple actions can help keep Surrey prepared.

The service has launched a picnic competition throughout August, giving the chance to win a luxury picnic hamper to enjoy.
