The ‘Be Proud’ initiative aims to discourage people from dropping litter or allowing their dogs to foul in public places.

Residents are being urged to volunteer for litter picks and report issues like overflowing bins to the council.

‘Be Proud of Mole Valley’ banners, posters and signage will be appearing in parks and car parks across the district as a reminder.

Councillor Rosemary Hobbs, MVDC’s Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: “I am delighted with the scope of this wide-reaching awareness and educational campaign just in time for spring and the summer when a greater number of people get out and about enjoying the better weather. We are really keen to tap into people’s pride in where they live, work and visit, to inspire behavioural change so that more people take ownership of their actions that have a direct impact on their local area. A simple example would be taking litter home if a bin in a public space was overflowing and then reporting that overflowing bin. A significant part of the campaign is showing people where to go for more information and how to report things they witness when this is needed. Your help in bringing issues to our attention when they arise continues to be greatly appreciated.”
