A Court of Appeal judge has concluded the 40-year jail sentence for Urfan Sharif, for the murder of his 10-year-old daughter Sara in Woking in August 2023, was not unduly lenient.

Lawyers for the Solicitor General argued he should’ve received a whole life order, which would have meant he could never be freed from prison, but he was not handed a life order and his sentence remains the same.

Urfan Sharif has also been refused permission to challenge the term.

Urfan Sharif and Beinash Batool killed the 10 year old in 2023 and were jailed for 40 and 33-years respectively.

Sara’s uncle, Faisal Malik, is serving 16 years for causing or allowing her death.

The Lady Chief Justice, Baroness Carr, refused their attempt to shorten their sentences.
