The NHS is warnings about a so-called ‘tidal wave’ of ‘festive flu’ cases in England.
The number of people in hospital with the illness has leapt by 70% in a week.
Dr William Oldfield, Chief Medical Officer for Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Uptake of our winter vaccination programme for staff and for vulnerable patients has been really positive so far. I would encourage anyone who is eligible and hasn’t yet done so, to book their vaccinations for flu, COVID and RSV as soon as possible, to protect themselves and their loved ones against serious illness this winter.”
