Party leaders at Elmbridge Borough Council have signed a letter asking the Chancellor to review the Winter Fuel Payment allowance.

Labour has cut the £300 annual payment to all but the poorest pensioners to save £1.5 billion per year.

Elmbridge is making £660,000 available to help those most in need in the borough.

But it wants the government to suspend or review the new Winter Fuel Payment policy that excludes millions of older people.
