Richmond Council is urging its pensioners to check if they are still eligible for the Winter Fuel Payment.

The credit, worth up to £300, used to be paid annually to people of state pension age to help see them through the colder months.

But the new Labour Government says it will now only be available to those on Pension Credit or certain other means-tested benefits.

Richmond Council says residents should check to see if they qualify for Pension Credit.

This would allow them continued access to the Winter Fuel Payment.
