More than 100,000 litres of water has been pumped out of AFC Wimbledon’s Plough Lane stadium after it was hit by severe flooding.

The League Two club were meant to be hosting Newcastle in the EFL Cup tonight but that match will now be held at St James’ Park next week.

AFC Wimbledon supporters have smashed a £50,000 fundraising target to repair the team’s flooded pitch.

The club says the whole site, including shop, museum and offices were deluged in the early hours of Monday.

The stadium in Plough Lane is closed until further notice.
