The team which supports homeless people across Mole Valley has received special recognition from the government.

The recognition is for the team’s “exceptional performance in handling homeless” cases.

The District Council reports data monthly to the Government on the borough’s households who present as homeless.

Recent figures have shown the team’s results are well above regional and national averages.

One of the areas in which the council has been commended is homelessness prevention.

If someone is threatened with homelessness within 56 working days, the council aims to work to actively prevent it.

68% of households approach MVDC during this time period, compared to 50% regionally and 43% nationally.
