One of the UK’s oldest market streets has been handed over £800,000 to bring it back to life.

Surrey Street Market in Croydon dates back to 1276.

The money is coming from the Greater London Authority following a successful bid from the council.

The council says it will work to bring vacant shops and spaces back into use by culture, arts and community groups.
