The fast-food giant wants to take over the Poundland site in Central Road.

It has submitted a planning application to Sutton Council following a public consultation.

But people have taken to social media to air their concerns about the proposal.

Traffic, anti-social behaviour and littering are among the top complaints.

A number of people have also questioned why McDonald’s needs to set up in Worcester Park when it has a drive-thru in North Cheam.

Residents also say they want more independent shops and healthier restaurants rather than chains and fast food premises.

McDonald’s, which is celebrating its 50th UK anniversary, says it has listened to people’s concerns.

Bosses say there are appropriate control measures to limit cooking odours and there will be a minimum of three daily litter picks.

We have contacted Sutton Council for comment.
