Alan Sharp, who’s also 80, will appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court charged with the murder of Jenny Sharp later.
Police were called to the couples home in Raeburn Avenue on Friday morning after a woman was found unresponsive.
She was pronounced dead at the scene and Alan Sharp was arrested.
A post-mortem gave the cause of death as ‘manual compression of the neck’.
