Chelsea defender and Lioness Millie Bright has been awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Derby.

Bright, who captained England to the Women’s World Cup final in 2023, was given the freedom of her home county of Derbyshire on the same day.

She said it was a “massive honour and a privilege” to be recognised.

She was also previously given the Freedom of Reigate and Banstead, where she currently lives.
