A pile of rubbish measuring 20 metres by five metres was alight.

The fire is now under control, but crews will remain on scene damping down hotspots.

Specialist teams are working to monitor air quality in the area and local residents have been asked to keep their windows closed.

Station Commander Scott Thorpe is at the scene, he said: “Crews worked tirelessly throughout the night in extremely hot conditions.”

The Brigade was called at just before 3am this morning and the fire was under control by 750.
