23 year old Pawan Paul, who suffers from Crohn’s Disease, has worked for the company since he was an 18-year-old apprentice.

He was hospitalised in September but the GMB Union says he returned to work full time at the end of the month.

Mr Paul, says he was asked to cold call and collect old equipment boxes from customers in addition to his installation duties.

The GMB Union claims he was then sacked after he didn’t collect the empty boxes due to a fallout from his condition.

Virgin Media has told Jackie News Mr Paul was dismissed for failing to complete work assignments on numerous occasions.

A Virgin Media spokesperson said: “As one of the UK’s largest businesses with a broad and diverse workforce, we have a range of measures in place to support employees who have a disability or specific needs.

“Following a thorough investigation in this case, Mr Paul was dismissed on 29 April for failing to complete work assignments on numerous occasions and repeatedly failing to report absences. Mr Paul appealed his dismissal which, upon review, has not been upheld.”

The GMB Union is calling for a full investigation.
