The Environment Agency has declared a category 3 incident after cooking oil was thrown into the water.
The charity Canal and Rivers Trust is in charge of the clean-up of the waterway which spans Brentford and across West London.
A spokesperson from the Environment Agency says, “further investigations found the environmental effect was low”.
