35-year-old Abdul Ezedi left a woman with life-changing injuries last week on Lessar Avenue in an attack with corrosive liquid.
He was last spotted on Chelsea Bridge and was never seen coming off.
Senior officials say they have confidence they would have found him if he hadn’t gone into the river.
A number of people are still investigating what happened to Ezedi after the incident, the woman remains in hospital but her two daughters have already been released following minor injuries.
