A two-way central lane has been created across the bridge, which has been closed to all traffic since 2020 due to safety concerns.
Spanning three metres wide, the cycle lane is likely to remain open for around 10 weeks.
Motorbikes and mopeds will not be allowed to use the bridge and marshals will be on duty 24/7 to handle traffic management.
