Rafael Nadal says his coach Carlos Moya and the rest of the support team helped him through some darker times during a year out injured.

The two time Wimbledon champion made his singles comeback with a straight sets win over Dominic Thiem at the Brisbane International.

Nadal says people around him lifted his spirits.
