A number of suspects attempted to rewire the cables inside a camera column near Sadler Close last month.
The council said if they had achieved what they attempted to do, the whole column would have become live.
This means anyone who touched it could have been electrocuted and possibly killed.
The authority has identified a white van which may have been involved and police have been informed.
The council says the CCTV is not used for ULEZ enforcement.
