The University of Surrey has won £260,000 from UK Research and Innovation to study how AI is affecting healthcare research.
Led by Dr Danny Maupin, the project will explore how researchers use AI, by researching whether it helps or harms research integrity.
Students will analyse data with hidden errors to see if AI tools make them more or less likely to spot mistakes.
Dr Maupin says overreliance on AI in complex health research could lead to serious errors and hopes the study will guide future training on responsible AI use.
